Youth Exchange 2018

21st February 2018

Youth Exchange 2018 Northbourne Youth Initiative have teamed up with youth organisations in Croatia & Norway to take part in a 9 day youth exchange programme.  Youth exchanges bring together groups of young people from two or more countries, providing them with an opportunity to discuss and confront various themes while learning about each other’s’ countries and cultures; they help you learn new skills and improve your CV. Young people will receive a Youth Pass which is recognised as an accredited certificate or participation. It’s all about learning about others and understanding the differences which exist between countries, cultures and people.   The project is called Get into… And over the 7 days we will Get into 7 different themes, and take part in activities, workshops, visits and more around each of the themes.  The themes include Culture, Young people’s issues, difference & similarities, Human rights, Immigration and stereotyping.  We are arranging to work with the local university and take part in activities there, other local organisations will deliver sessions as well as lots of games and activities so the young people can get to know each other.  We will also be visiting lots of places within Newcastle such as museums, scavenger hunts and sports activities Anyone who takes part in a youth exchange can take away so much from it, for many it may be there first time away from home, or the first time they have met people from these countries.  We give young people plenty of time to feel at home and get to know each other by working in small groups and having a mix of taught workshops and free time to enjoy the whole experience.  Watch out for daily blogs keeping everyone up to date on what we are doing.  Back to Blog
